Australia Yacht Charters Cruising Grounds

Australia Yacht Charters have been in the news recently! The Australian Legislature passed laws that allow foreign superyachts to charter in Australia.

Superyacht Australia pushed over the years in proposing for this legislation change. Formerly, foreign superyachts had to pay 10% GST on the value of the yacht to do Australian Yacht Charters. Now, they can obtain a license at much less cost.

Did you know that we have many world-class charter yachts ALREADY offering a fantastic set of cruising destinations in Australia?

From Kimberly’s on the West Coast to Whitehaven Beach and the Great Barrier Reef in the Whitsundays on the North East Coast. To the Gold Coast around Brisbane and down into Sydney itself.

Let’s talk about your charter vacation in Australia

Australia is a vast country! Think Canada or Russia size. You are not going to see it all in one week, no matter how quick your yacht moves.

If you want unspoiled nature, impressive scenery, and more wildlife than you could imagine, your private yacht can take you to Kimberly’s.

Australian Yacht Charters – The Kimberly’s

The Kimberly’s “features rugged ranges with spectacular gorges, mighty river systems, thundering waterfalls, and vast plain surrounded by the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean, plus an astonishing variety of wildlife including crocodiles, sharks & giant turtles and manta rays, birdlife and plant species. The Kimberley is famous for its rugged and picturesque gorges and pristine beaches and waterways as applied to the canvas by Aboriginal artists for the last 40,000 years.

Swim with whale sharks the world’s largest fish at Exmouth and fish the bountiful Indian Ocean.” Source: Superyacht Australia

Australian Yacht Charters- The Whitsunday’s

The Whitsunday’s ARE the heart of the Great Barrier Reef with its access to 74 islands. Most of these islands are National Parks with coral reefs and marine life to make any snorkeler or SCUBA diving fanatic happy.

The Whitsundays is also one of the top sailing destinations in the world! Australians are SUPER CRAZY about sail racing with the famous Hamilton Island Race Week taking place every August.

Moving from the British Virgin Islands, often called the sailing yacht capital of the world to Australia, I had to give it to them, they have us beat for enthusiasm for this sport.

We recently did a blog entry on the top 5 things to DO in the Whitsundays. The Blog entry opens in a new tab for ease of reading.

The number of anchorages that Superyachts can use in Queensland has grown over the past few years. Take a look at this map that opens in a new tab for enough anchorages to satisfy everywhere you would like to go to this region.

We have a great selection of superyachts AND bareboats out of this area just waiting for you now.

Australian Yacht Charters- The Far North

Port Douglas or Cairns may be the gateway to the Great Barrier Reef, but if you are looking for the ultimate in Fishing experiences, we have superyachts that specialize in game fishing based out of here!

The Far North is also a natural jumping-off point for Papua New Guinea, Indonesia, and the Philippines.

Australian Yacht Charters- Moreton Bay, Brisbane and the Gold Coast

If you want to move between the largest sand islands in a week to the glitz of the Gold Coast, then Moreton Bay is for you!

1000 sq kilometers of sheltered water with 155 islands; this is great for boating, fishing, water sports enthusiasts, or, just gunkholing in your own bareboat.

Brisbane is the only Sub Tropical Capital city in Australia, and in a surprise to many people is 12 nautical miles up the Brisbane River!

Queensland’s buzzing riverside capital city is wedged between the ocean and rugged national parks. Brisbane is a cosmopolitan hub for arts, culture, and dining but still retains a close connection with nature and a classic laid-back Queensland attitude.

Moreton Bay is a bird habitat and also known for its marine life – turtles, dugongs, dolphins and migrating whales during Spring. (Australian Spring that is)

You are going to be able to eat prawns (never shrimp) and mud crabs to your heart’s delight. Then you can dress up and go to one of the Gold Coast’s high-end restaurants for a night out.

Check out 48 hours on Moreton Island to get an idea of what you can do using your yacht as a base.

This video features the wrecks at Tangalooma on Moreton Island, which, is a “must-see” spot for snorkelers or divers.
