CAPTAIN JOSHUA

Raised in the 90’s around California’s dynamic East Bay and Sacramento Valley, my life was all about competitive gymnastics and the occasional thrill of boating and wakeboarding with my family during the summers. This cultivated a deep-seated passion for water sports and sailing, a path I embarked on entirely during a captivating 2018 cruise that introduced me to the sailing world. The journey intensified when Gustavo, my now-husband, and I chartered a sail in Brazil’s Angra dos Reis, marking a pivotal point in our lives.

Fast-forward to a spur-of-the-moment decision at the Fort Lauderdale boat show in October 2018, and five months later, we were the proud owners of Valentina, berthed in Marina Del Ray, CA. We then set sail towards the Pacific Mexican coast, pursuing adventures in warmer climates and tastier margaritas. We added our fur baby, Linda, during our exploration of the Costa Rican volcanoes. The highlight of our voyage was the visually stunning San Blas Islands, reached after navigating through the Panama Canal.

Everything paused with the onset of Covid-19. Stranded in Puerto Lindo, Panama, for four months, we awaited clearance for a non-stop sail to Isla Mujeres, Mexico, drawn by its lenient restrictions and superior tacos.

As the world gradually reopened, we ventured through Florida and the Bahamas and sailed twice around the captivating eastern Caribbean, taking in the sights of Los Roques, Venezuela, and the ABC Islands in 2022. With a plethora of experience behind us and the eastern Caribbean now our base in early 2023, we are excited to offer exclusive sailing charters on Valentina throughout the Leeward and Windward Islands.

Join us aboard Valentina for an unparalleled adventure where our passion for sailing, vast expertise in travel and hospitality, and dedication to crafting unforgettable experiences converge. Whether seeking tranquility, engaging in exhilarating water sports, or experiencing rich cultural exchanges, our charters are designed to surpass your desires, encapsulating the essence of luxury, freedom, and the unparalleled joy of sailing in paradise.

CHEF/FIRST MATE GUSTAVO

Growing up in a farm town of Minas Gerais, Brazil, my childhood was framed by nature’s beauty—think rolling hills and cascading waterfalls. Though far from any ocean, I dreamt of vast blue seas under expansive skies. This longing took a new shape when I moved to Brazil’s capital, Brasilia, and dived into customer service and government projects with verve.

2008 marked the start of my entrepreneurial adventure, as I founded an IT support service to uplift small businesses back home. By 2013, I sought broader horizons and made my way to the USA, dipping my toes into various industries, from hospitality to customer service. I was always guided by loving attention to detail and the Brazilian ‘aconchego’—creating comfort and warmth wherever I went.

Life took a thrilling turn when I met Josh. Together, we swapped the ordinary for the extraordinary, making our home on the seas aboard Valentina. It’s here where our story becomes not just about places but about the journey and discovery each day offers.

Being Brazilian, engaging and sharing comes naturally to me. Aboard Valentina, I’ve had the joy of introducing guests to the heart of Caribbean beauty—and a slice of Brazil, too, from brewing traditional Cafézinho to baking Pão de Queijo and even shaking up vibrant Caipirinhas. And if you’re keen, I’m here to pass on a word of Portuguese or a Samba step or two.

Come, be part of this journey. Aboard Valentina, it’s not just about places we visit but the memories we create and the warmth of new friendships. Here’s to new horizons together.

Linda “Special Pawjects Officer” (onboard dog)

From a crowded shelter in Atenas, Costa Rica, my life took an incredible turn. Now, I’m not just any dog; I’m a crucial part of my new family, exploring the world on our boat, Valentina. At first, I didn’t even have a name. But when my dad kept calling me “Que Linda,” I decided Linda was just right. I was clueless about my breed, but now I know I’m simply the pampered kind.

Moving on, Valentina was my first encounter with the ocean. I learned about water the hard way by tumbling in, thinking I’d found another dog on the reflective surface. That splash taught me how to swim and ignited my passion for the sea, making me a pro at chasing lizards and showing off my fishing skills.

I’ve collected more passport stamps in my four years than most could dream of. I travel with my dads, initially meant for security duty on Valentina. Yet, I prefer being friendly, playing, or napping, though my presence is enough to make anyone think twice before coming too close.

Join me and my family as we discover amazing beaches and vibrant underwater worlds. Sharing my love for adventure and meeting new friends fuels my spirit. I invite you aboard, Valentina, for a journey filled with wonder, friendship, and the beauty of the ocean. Welcome aboard!
