CAPTAIN STEVE

Captain Steve, originally from New York, has called sunny Florida home for over 20 years, running his own boat repair business. With nearly 30 years in the yachting industry, he remains as passionate as ever.

Since 2003, Captain Steve has been with Starship, transforming its charter program into a seamless and memorable experience. He meticulously ensures every detail runs smoothly, making every guest feel special. While skilled in all charter types, he has a soft spot for family charters, inspired by his own daughters, aged 8 and 19.

In his free time, Captain Steve enjoys ‘go fast’ boating and cruising around in sports cars. Chartering the 185′ Starship means cruising with one of the best captains and his exceptional crew for an unforgettable experience.

CHIEF OFFICER GERMAN

German grew up in Klaipeda, Lithuania, on the Baltic Sea coast. As a child, he spent 12 years as a professional swimmer before transitioning to CrossFit as a full-time hobby. After earning his degree from Maritime Academy, he joined the commercial fleet, following his family’s tradition. One year later, he discovered yachting and has been on this path toward becoming a Captain ever since.

Over the past five years, German has sailed on M/Y TURQUOISE, M/Y HAMPSHIRE, M/Y KATHARINE, and M/Y AVALON, becoming the go-to for all things watersports. His journeys have taken him across the Great Lakes, Norway, the Caribbean, Bahamas, the Mediterranean, and more.

Outside of yachting, German’s goals include being a good husband, father, and son and eventually starting a business to earn passive income and spend more time with loved ones. He aims for every guest on STARSHIP to leave feeling amazed by the exceptional service provided by the crew.

Tessa grew up in Molteno, a small farming town in the Eastern Cape, South Africa. From an early age, she attended boarding school before choosing to explore the world. This exploration led her to yachting, where she has spent the last eight years cruising the Mediterranean, Caribbean, and the Bahamas. Always on the hunt for new experiences, Tessa is dedicated to delivering top-notch guest care aboard M/Y Starship, ensuring your journey is smooth and memorable. Off-duty, she enjoys horseback riding, hiking, painting, and water sports.

SECOND STEWARDESS MIKAELA

Mikaela, born in Westville, South Africa, recently became a US Citizen. She studied Culinary Arts and Advanced Pastry in South Africa. Her love for the ocean, people, food, and travel led her to the yachting industry through her uncle. Over her 7-year career, she has visited Cuba, the Bahamas, Central America, French Polynesia, Tonga, and Fiji. Her ocean passion keeps growing. CHEF GARY

Gary’s journey began in Scotland, with a move to New Zealand in 1982. Growing up in Auckland, he worked as a lifeguard while attending school. His yachting career started with temp work on M/Y UYLSSES, transitioning to a full-time role in April 2013. Over the years, Gary has worked on various motor and sailing yachts.

With 27 years in the kitchen, his culinary expertise covers Organic, Pacific Rim, French, Italian, and modern Asian cuisines. He accommodates all dietary needs, ensuring allergies and special requests are carefully managed. Gary thrives in diverse environments and enjoys being part of a dedicated team delivering 5-star dining experiences.

Outside the kitchen, Gary indulges in water sports, mountain biking, fishing, and underwater photography. His philosophy: “A recipe has no soul. You, as the chef, must bring soul to the recipe.”. Gary eagerly awaits the opportunity to bring his exceptional dishes to the next guests on board STARSHIP.
