CAPTAIN DARREL
Darrel, hailing from Johannesburg, South Africa, grew up exploring local suburbs and sharing adventures with his pet lion, Chaos. Although his university studies diverged widely and didn’t lead directly to his current career, Darrel values these experiences alongside his role as a lieutenant in the South African National Defense Force. Fluent in three languages, including two indigenous to South Africa, he boasts a rich cultural background.
In 2003, Darrel made a daring career shift: He left accounting to embrace the sea. After relocating to Cape Town, he earned his captain’s license, navigating some of the world’s most challenging waters. His legal certification now allows him to captain small vessels in various countries.
CARIBBEAN IS HOME
Over the last fourteen years, Darrel has called the Caribbean his home, gaining a wealth of sailing experience across countless charters and islands. He’s not only familiar with the best island bars but has also encountered awe-inspiring marine life and weathered extreme conditions at sea. With over 45,000 nautical miles to his name and more than 400 charters under his belt, his appetite for adventure remains undiminished, and he is keen to replicate most but not all of these extraordinary experiences.
CHEF JENN
Jenn, with a childhood in Canada’s most talked-about haunted house and deep roots in the islands, made her home in the British Virgin Islands after decades of visits. She swapped jazz club management, makeup artistry, real estate, and even piloting a space simulator for a life crafting gourmet meals on the sea. Her diverse background enhances every dish she serves, earning high praises and recommendations for loose clothing on journeys home due to her exceptional cuisine.
With her lineage of chefs and years in hospitality, Jenn seamlessly combines restaurant management expertise and real-world practice. Now, with three years in the yacht charter world, she delights guests with menus personalized to their tastes, emphasizing fresh, local ingredients that showcase her commitment to farm-to-table values. Her culinary focus? Heartwarming classics with a unique twist that keeps everyone asking for seconds.
Her passion for the beach and the charm of the island life make her indispensable to the charter lifestyle. Jenn’s radiant, caring personality not only makes her the meals memorable but also turns every interaction on board into a bright spot. It’s no surprise she’s a favorite among crew and guests alike.
FIRST MATE CHRIS
Chris’s journey is nothing short of remarkable, starting in South Africa and moving to the Virgin Islands at nine. Life took an unexpected turn in 2017 with hurricane Irma, leading him to Canada. Now, he’s back since September 2023 as the first mate on Angeleyes, and we couldn’t be happier. His years of experience in charter and hospitality shine through his calm, friendly presence that makes everyone feel welcome. He’s not just skilled in making your charter experience unforgettable; Chris’s kindness makes him a crew favorite and, frankly, the nicest guy around. His passion doesn’t stop there – an excellent martini maker, watersports fanatic, and skilled instructor. With a 200 ton captain’s license and extensive yachting experience in the Caribbean, Chris is an invaluable addition to our team, bringing his unique blend of peace and good cheer.
STEWARDESS JENNY
Raised in Scotland, Jenny grew up with the ocean as her second home, thanks to her diver parents. She’s not just passionate about the sea; she also has a formal education in hotel management and catering. After years of honing her skills in Edinburgh’s hospitality scene, Jenny ventured to the BVI over twenty years ago, bringing a slice of Scotland with her, evident in her accent and love for rugby. Here, she mastered the art of boat life and running island restaurants, making her a known figure in the community.
Jenny brings vibrancy to our team with her tireless energy. Despite her small frame, she packs a punch with her bright, spirited, and assertive personality. She’s versatile, skillfully tackling various tasks from assisting in the kitchen, serving strong drinks at the bar, to maintaining impeccable cleanliness with ease. Jenny embodies our team’s core values: Friendliness, Flexibility, and exceptional proficiency, making every encounter memorable.
