Hero’s Journey:
“The common template of stories that involve a hero who goes on an adventure, is victorious in a decisive crisis and comes home changed or transformed.”

Dustin & Elizabeth met by chance in Fort Myers, FL after the yacht Elizabeth was working on docked nearby on a last-minute change of itinerary. 2 years later, after working on separate yachts, volunteering for Hurricane relief efforts, and freelancing together Dustin & Elizabeth have come together to operate S/V Hero’s Journey and offer a vacation of a lifetime.

Growing up in Oregon, Dustin learned early on that life is too short for cold weather. After completing his B.S. in accounting at Southern Oregon University, Dustin quickly moved to Hawaii for warm weather and good surf. Realizing that a 9-5 office job wasn’t for him he quit his corporate life and hopped on a boat as a deckhand with a local tour company which began his life of adventure.

After getting his captain’s license in 2008, Dustin has captained boats in Hawaii swimming with dolphins and whale watching to guiding brown bear tours in the remote Alaskan wilderness. Eventually he landed in Florida, worked on super yachts where he met Elizabeth and realized he yearned for the lifestyle that only the islands have to offer. Crystal clear water, surfing, free & scuba diving, spear fishing, campfires on the beach, and just a slower pace in general - Dustin is right at home living the island life.

Growing up Bi Coastal, San Diego to Charlotte and everywhere in-between, Elizabeth has lived a rather nomadic lifestyle as a military brat. Early on she embraced her passion for travel and adventure while taking note of all of the diverse cultural flavors from coast to coast. From sky diving at Camp Pendleton to deep sea fishing in the Bahamas and delivering sailboats all around the eastern seaboard & Caribbean, Elizabeth has long considered the islands as home. Her passion for food & flavor made from the freshest ingredients possible allows her to create a variety of geographical dishes. From farm and sea-to-table she encompasses all aspects of what the land & sea has to offer.

Dustin & Elizabeth welcome you to join them and embrace your own hero’s journey; to experience and enjoy all of what the islands have to offer. From exploring remote beaches and learning about local wildlife to sampling culinary masterpieces and island hot-spots. Dustin & Elizabeth look forward to guiding your vacation and transforming it into an unforgettable adventure.

Not all heroes wear capes - some wear tank tops, flip flops, wetsuits and fins.
