Shane was born and raised in Dallas, Texas and at the age of 20 moved to Colorado where he worked as a volunteer firefighter for the City of Golden and had a career as an auditor. In 2009 he finally realized his life-long dream of owning a boat and cruising around the world. With Guiding Light he cruised from the Gulf and East Coasts of America to the Bahamas and the Windward Islands of the Caribbean, and learned that entertaining guests aboard was his favorite part of the experience. Shane brings to Guiding Light his love of cooking, teaching sailing, fishing, entertaining and being a guide to the best vacation his guests will ever have.
Shane's Captain-Only charters are distinguished by his excellent cooking. He bakes fresh bread daily, and prepares 3 dinners for his guests for which he receives rave reviews!
3 dinners are cooked by Captain Shane on a weekly charter, and for every lunch guests enjoy sandwiches with
Captain Shane's famous homemade captain's bread. He also makes sourdough bread once a week.
Provisions for the week are at the guest's expense.

8 NIGHTS or longer, divide by 7 nights X # of nights
7 nights = $6,000 plus all expenses
6 nights = $5,500 plus all expenses
5 nights = $5,000 plus all expenses
*** Captain will cook 3 nights out of the week, and make fresh bread for lunch daily, provision at client's expense.
*** Captain will provision for clients at cost of provisions to save clients time to enjoy their charter.
*** As a rough guide the expenses usually work out to be $125-250 per person for food, $100-200 total for moorings, $100-125 total for fuel / water, and $100-200 total for government fees (n/a for the USVI).
