Captain - Steve De Klerk
Steve was born in South Africa and fell in love with boating when he got involved in local sailboat regattas. He was fortunate to have met JJ Provoyuer, who had raced Single-handedly around the World in the then British Open Challenge (BOC) and through him was taught a lot and offered the opportunity to circumnavigate a 47' Sloop back in 1998. 5 young guys set sail from Cape Town on a voyage of a lifetime, participating in regattas like Antigua Race week, (he won his class) and Kenwood Cup in Hawaii. Exchange rate fluctuations changed the program's plan and Steve found himself in Newport, RI, where he immersed himself in the rich NE Sailing culture. He moved to Wrightsville Beach. NC. He tried settling down with a land-based career and gave it his best shot but after 9 years he wandered back to the ocean and made the transition to Motoryacht's and has never looked back.
In a professional capacity, Steve has been Captaining a variety of vessels, both Motor and Sail Boats, charter and private in the 90 to 115-foot range all up and down the US East Coast from as far North as Northern Maine and south to the Keys. He has also spent lots of time in the Bahamas as well as the USV and BVI's not to mention a plethora of Caribbean islands he has visited too.
Steve has always received excellent charter guest reviews and goes out of his way to ensure that his guests get the best experience possible that he tailors around their favorite activities. He does his best to say "Yes" to every guest request possible.
With Steve's true love for the Northeast and the Bahamas, you can rest assured that a trip on this vessel will be one to be remembered.
