Captain Luke grew up in Pietermaritzburg, a small town in South Africa. Although he has no brothers or sisters, he comes from a very large family with lots of cousins who loved to spend family vacations at the beach. Having worked on both yachts and commercial vessels for the last 13 years, Captain Luke has excellent knowledge of every aspect of a boat. He was previously Chief Officer on 145’ AT LAST before obtaining his role as Captain. He is keen on keeping the vessel immaculate for the comfort of every guest who steps on board. As an avid photographer and videographer, Captain Luke has the ability to freeze time, capturing with his lens, some of the most special moments spent on board.

After previously stepping away from yachting to study to become a Deck Officer on container vessels, Captain Luke ultimately made his return to what he loves and hasn’t looked back since. He is dedicated to providing guests with an exceptional itinerary that is filled with unforgettable experiences. Captain Luke believes in enjoying every moment, which is fitting on board B HAPPY.

In his spare time, Captain Luke enjoys overlanding, hiking, traveling, photography, and drone work.

Kendra Castello – Chef

Kendra grew up in southern coastal Virginia. Spending her childhood in one of the biggest military communities in the world, she has always been around vessels of all sizes and a lover of the ocean.

Kendra started yachting about seven years ago as a way to start a fresh new life while taking her service and hospitality skills to the next level. She has a passion for creating unforgettable, unique experiences and yachting is the best way to fulfill this desire.

Prior to entering the industry, Kendra worked in a variety of restaurants and bars from high-end to mom-and-pop since she was 15 years old. Some of her favorite cuisines to cook are Mexican, Asian fusion, sushi, light lunches, and southern food. She also loves cooking vegan dishes, especially vegan desserts. Many different fresh salads, a variety of pasta, handmade artisanal bread, and some of the most delicious desserts are a few of Kendra’s staples. Adjusting menu options and taking requests are never a problem for Kendra as she loves to keep guest satisfaction at the forefront, while also giving herself the ability to try new things. Guests aboard B HAPPY can expect to experience five-star service with a chef who is always willing to go the extra mile with a great attitude and a smile.

When Kendra is not busy preparing a delectable menu, you can find her traveling, and spending time with her family, overlanding with her husband, or enjoying a cozy day reading a book or binge-watching Netflix.

Kristin Stanford – Stewardess

Kristin grew up in the small student town of Stellenbosch which is world-renowned for its beautiful wine farms and mountains. Most of the time, you would find Kristin in these mountains, either trail running, hiking, horse riding, or mountain biking. She enjoys being outdoors and active, breathing in fresh air and energy. Since all of her family enjoys the same activities, they are often together sharing adventures.

Kristin started yachting soon after leaving high school. It was a natural transition, as she grew up sailing Hobie-cats and traveling. With the desire to work where she could see the world and be active while doing so, yachting was the perfect fit.

With Kristin’s years of working in the industry, as well as for Relias Chateaux Restaurant, she has dealt with many high-profile guests, which has only improved her guest service. She has a great eye for detail and always ensures that her guests are well looked after and comfortable. Open, engaging, and friendly, while remaining professional and respectful are some ways to best describe Kristin. She knows how to anticipate guests’ needs and always strives to exceed their expectations.

When Kristin is not on board providing 5-star service, or out in nature wandering the trails, you can find her Hobie-cat sailing, kite surfing, practicing yoga, or playing card games.

Mitchell Steinkuehler – Mate
Education/Certifications: B.S. Marine Biology, USCG 100T Master, PADI Divemaster

Growing up, Mitchell experienced the best of both worlds, dividing his time between a quaint rural town in Iowa and the scenic splendor of Sonoma County, California. As a youngster, Mitchell’s active nature led him to engage in competitive swimming, wrestling, and a plethora of other sports for over a decade, instilling in him a love for physical challenges and the great outdoors.

After spending time near the California coast and enjoying vacations in the Gulf of Mexico, Mitchell knew he wanted to dedicate his life to the water. He pursued his dreams by attending University for Marine Science and later relocated to the Florida Keys to immerse himself in the diving industry. With a desire for new experiences and a fresh perspective, he transitioned to yachting seven years ago.

Known for his “Jack of all trades” capabilities and a fun-loving, happy-go-lucky personality, Mitchell believes in creating an efficient yet relaxed work environment for himself and his fellow crew members. It is his profound love for the ocean and its inhabitants that truly sets him apart. Eager to share his passion with others, he encourages guests to spend more time in the water, helping them unwind and connect with the beauty of nature.

In his spare time, Mitchell indulges in various activities such as freediving, diving, spearfishing, distance swimming, wakeboarding, snowboarding, and hiking. Always willing to share his knowledge and serve as a comfortable guide, he embodies the spirit of adventure, making every journey at sea an unforgettable experience for all on board.
