Richard and Leala are best friends!
Richard moved to the Virgin Islands in 2003 and immediately decided that working in the Charter Yacht Industry was for him.
“I can’t imagine living any other lifestyle. Living on the water and so close to nature fills me with gratitude. I love the opportunities to meet new friends and keep myself challenged. And maybe one day I will learn to Salsa dance!”
I have known Richard from back in my yacht crewing days, and we have had the chance to run tandem charters before.
Leala came to working on crewed yachts in the Virgin Islands after being a Hollywood Hair Stylist. Yes, you heard that right! When her children were grown, she took the opportunity to work as a chef and mate, making her way from Nantucket through to the Bahamas, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, and on to the USVI and BVI.

“We had an amazing trip. The boat is spacious and stocked with all the ingredients you need for an awesome time- snorkel gear, paddleboards, towels, underwater cameras, and many other accouterments.
You can explore caves and island ruins, go hiking or seek out exciting sea life, and then finish off the day with a cocktail on a gorgeous, obscure beach, away from the tourist stuff (unless you like the tourist stuff-and he can help with that too!).
I can’t say enough about how perfect a hostess Leala was. She made us yummy breakfast every day and cocktails in the afternoon and was so sweet, coming with us to excursions and taking pictures whenever we’d forget. They had just the right balance of spending time with us and letting us be, as, on any boat trip with a captain, this can be a concern.

Rapscallion Crewed Catamaran sleeps six guests in three queen cabins. All the cabins have ensuite heads for your privacy AND separate shower stalls, so you don’t have to stand in a wet washroom when you shower!
Not only does it have a lovely salon, but also there is plenty of shade in the aft cockpit and a U-Shape forward cockpit for even more places to get away.
There is fly-bridge seating with a bimini top for shade and padded sunbeds for you to relax on in comfort.
Thus All cabins have individual a/c controls for YOUR comfort.
What is the menu like on Rapscallion?
Whatever you want it to be! Within reason, of course. Leala personally selects a handcrafted menu taking in all your preferences before your charter.
Special diets that taste like heaven are not a problem for them at all! Leala is well versed in vegan, Paleo, Keto, and Gluten/Wheat free diets.
What is Rapscallion Crewed Catamarans Rates?
All Rates I am going to talk about here for Rapscallion Crewed Catamaran are fully crewed and inclusive for seven nights. There are a few small exclusions:
- Crew Gratuity 15- 20% of the Charter fee industry-standard, adjusted to how you feel the service you received was.
- Dockage that you request during the week. The fun of the charter is the anchorages! Out where you have elbow room and can see the stars and jump in the water!
- Upgraded liquor or wine not in the ships standard bar
- Any food and drinks you choose to eat onshore.
- 2 guests: 15,000
- 3 guests: 15,500
- 4 Guests: 16,000
- 5 Guests: 16,500
- 6 Guests: 17,000

We can take $1000 off the above weekly rates for any charters between November 1st, 2020 to December 16th, 2020
Xmas Week 2020 is still open at a flat 7-night rate of $18,500 and New Year Week is $21,000

What is a Sleep Aboard?
So you can arrive at the yacht at four pm. And while onboard, snacks and a welcome drink are served, but it is not an open bar. Dinner is ashore At your expense.
Then your Continental breakfast magically appears the next morning.
Please add $250.00 per cabin for the Sleep Aboard option with a minimum of two cabins.

So we were just on board this yacht in St Thomas in the US Virgin Islands in November 2019.
Rapscallion Catamaran quickly proved to be a top-rated boat, and as of now, we have very little for openings this season, but good opportunities for next season.
Openings as of February 14th, 2020
- Between July 16th and July 31st, 2020
- November 1st of 2020 and on with a couple of exceptions
- This yacht shuts down for off-season and crew vacations between August 1st and October 31 st, 2020.
